Rag Rug Starter

The trickiest part of making our rag rugs is the beginning, so we've done it for you!

We cut the T-shirt into yarn and finger crochet the first 3 rows of your rug. These starter rugs may include bits of the printed design on the T-shirt.

If you're teaching others, these are a great place to start, as learners can launch straight into their rug making with our video sequence (freely available via the DIY tab on this website), and progress quickly with their rug.

These are made by Upcycle Newcastle members in Newcastle. They're made from T-shirts donated to us by Samaritans Op shops discards and by others. This prevents them from going to landfill, or being shipped overseas to countries being inundated with our clothing waste.
